Alice Melvin

Alice Melvin is an illustrator, designer and maker with a passion for drawing and nature. I’ve had a range of children’s books published by Tate Publishing and Thames & Hudson.

My books have been translated into multiple languages, and as a life-long book lover it’s a humbling and special feeling to know that my books have found a place in people’s homes around the globe.

Alongside my children’s books I work on a wide range of illustration projects, often with a focus on paper and print. I’ve worked with Tate Enterprises on an extensive range of children’s merchandise including many cut-out-and-make craft kits, and I regularly collaborate with the publisher Art Angels on stationery that combines illustration with paper-engineering.

I currently live in Scotland with my husband, two children and two cats called Peggy and George. I love being outside in nature and I am often happiest sat under a tree sketching, or swimming in the sea.

Books in order of publication:

Counting Birds – 2009

The High Street – 2011

Grandma’s House – 2015

Mouse’s Wood – 2022
