Charles Chesshire, is a garden and landscape designer, writer and lecturer. He has been making gardens for over 30 years in the United Kingdom, the USA and France. He was the curator of Burford House Gardens, Worcestershire for 10years until 2003 and has been the consultant designer for Sudeley Castle Gardens since 1998.
His gardens have ranged from the Roof-tops of Manhattan, the beach fronts of the Hamptons on Long Island, to the Welsh borders where his business has been based for the last 15 years. From there he and his co-designer, Anna Laflin, have been working on gardens around the Welsh borders, on a major restoration of a Luytens garden near Rugby and on many gardens in other parts of Britain and in the South of France.
Charles trained as a designer by studying Horticulture at Writtle College, and by working and studying at a number of great gardens such as Heale House, Caerhays, and Spinners. He also studied painting under Cecily Sash. He spent a year in Saudi Arabia, 9 years in the United States, before settling back to his home country around Ludlow in Shropshire, England.
