Author Daryl Gregory was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1965. He grew up there with his two sisters. In 1987, he graduated from Illinois State University with two degrees, one in English and one in theater. In the same year, he married Kathleen Bieschke. He has two children (one daughter and one son that are named Emma and Ian) with her before they divorced.
Gregory’s novel “Pandemonium” won the Crawford Award (for best first fantasy novel) in the year 2009. it was also nominated for the Shirley Jackson Award, the World Fantasy Award, and the Mythopoeic Awards. “The Devil’s Alphabet” was nominated for a Philip K. Dick Award in the year 2010 and was named one of 2009’s best books by Publishers Weekly. His novella “We Are All Completely Fine” won the 2015 World Fantasy Award (best novella) and the Shirley Jackson Award.
