James Ashton

James Ashton is a British financial journalist. He was City Editor and Executive Editor at the London Evening Standard and Independent titles and before that City Editor at The Sunday Times. He has also written for the Daily Mail, Telegraph, Reuters, Barron’s, and the Scotsman, covering business, the economy, technology, investment, and leadership.

In autumn 2022 he became Chief Executive of the Quoted Companies Alliance, a trade body representing the interests of small and mid-sized companies whose shares are publicly traded in London. James was born in West Yorkshire, studied at the University of St Andrews and City University, London, lives in Surrey and is married with one daughter.
