Jonathan Reisman M.D. is a physician and author, as well as a naturalist, traveler, and teacher of wilderness survival and prehistoric crafts. His offbeat medical writing combines all these passions.
He has practiced medicine in some of the world’s most remote places – in the Russian and Alaskan Arctic, Antarctica, the Nepali Himalayas, urban slums of Kolkata, India, among the Oglala Sioux in South Dakota, and in rural Appalachia.
His writing has appeared in The New York Times, Slate, and The Washington Post. He runs a non-profit to improve healthcare and education in India, and he lives in Philadelphia with his wife and children.
