Kathi Appelt

Kathi Appelt (born July 6, 1954) is an American author of more than forty books for children and young adults. She won the annual PEN USA award for Children’s Literature recognizing The Underneath (2008).

Lives in College Station, TX with husband Ken and four adorable cats. Two sons are both musicians.  Serves on the faculty at Vermont College of Fine Arts in the MFA in Writing for Children and Young Adults Program.
