Kunal Purohit

Kunal Purohit has been a journalist for over 13 years, writing on issues of development, politics, inequalities, gender and the intersections between them. He is an independent journalist and, has, in the recent past, reported on issues like the country’s agrarian crisis, developmental inequities in some of India’s poorest areas as well as on hate crimes and the rise of Hindu nationalism across the country. He spent nearly a month, in Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh, trying to understand what was driving these hate crimes and how they were altering societal dynamics and the cultural fabric of the places where they occurred.

He is an alumnus of the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) University of London, from where, as a Felix Scholar, he obtained an MSc in Development Studies with distinction.
