OLLF Newsletter – Spring 2024
From the President: At the January 2024 OLLF board meeting, we committed to fund $511 for craft supplies in support of various craft programs including our successful sewing classes. OLLF has bought 2 sewing machines, and a member donated a 3rd machine, so we have enough equipment to support the sewing classes.
We also funded the purchase of 43 new books. Most of the books were to refresh the non-fiction section of the LGBTQ Special collection. The order has been placed and should be on the shelf by the end of April 2024.
The gardening program in January had 32 in attendance, which is the largest crowd yet for a gardening program. Our Feb. program had to rescheduled since our library is an early voting location. There will be additional gardening programs this spring and summer.
As always, I encourage you to become a member of the Oak Lawn Library Friends (OLLF). Also, you can volunteer to be a member of the OLLF board. We are looking for new ideas to make our library a better branch.
We are seeking artists to exhibit for monthly virtual art shows on our OLLF website.
We continue to fund a subscription to BookPage for 100 copies a month. This magazine has news on the newest books coming out.

Our website currently has 4066 author pages. It covers authors new and old with author biographies and books in order of publication.
To fund this support, we depend on donations, grants, and memberships. We also participate in the Kroger Care program and the North Texas Day of Giving.
From the Oak Lawn Library Staff:
Thank you from the Oak Lawn Branch!!!
We want to take a moment to convey our heartfelt gratitude for your ongoing generosity and support of our library! Thanks to you, we’ve been able to introduce exciting new programming and events, including our free sewing class, which has now become one of our most popular programs. It brings us joy to announce that we can now offer sewing as a recurring program, and it is now scheduled twice a month!
Thank you for all you do! We are excited to continue working together to create a welcoming atmosphere at our library where people can utilize our resources, connect with the community, and make new friends!
