OLLF – Newsletter Summer 2024

OLLF Newsletter – Summer 2024

From the President:I have good news; the voters of Dallas approved the bond program for the city of Dallas including $43 million for libraries.   Included in the funding for libraries is a provision to make the bathrooms at the Oak Lawn Library ADA compliant.   I don’t have a date yet, but I look forward to seeing our bathrooms updated.

The next major event for Dallas Public Library is the kickoff to the SMART program for summer.   It begins on Saturday June 1st.   OLLF provided $1,000 for SMART programs that will take place at our branch.

While the schedule is set for Summer, the programming staff at the library are already working on fall events.     The OLLF board is currently seeking funds through grants and business sponsors to further improve our library.   If you know of a business that would like to have a business sponsor membership in the Oak Lawn Library Friends, feel free to email me at oaklawnlibraryfriends@gmail.com.

We will again be participating in the North Texas Day of Giving 2024.    The date for this event is September 19, 2024.

Finally, I encourage you to become a member of the Oak Lawn Library Friends (OLLF).   Also, you can volunteer to be a member of the OLLF board.  We are looking for new ideas to make our library a better branch.
