I came across good magazine writing, or longform, or creative non-fiction, or whatever we’re calling it, when I lived in New York after leaving university in 2002. I left The Times (of London) in 2007 to make a living doing it. For ten years, my work appeared in The Financial Times, The New York Times, Harper’s, Grantland and The Guardian. I joined The New Yorker as a staff writer in 2018. I live in east London with my family. I read a lot. I try and be on time.
