Artist biography –
“The mask I once wore to shy away from the uncomfortable and unwanted in my own life has been transformed through acceptance. Leaning into the uncomfortable and messy, the Source within has transformed trauma and shame to expose beauty through artwork. I’m driven by an inner fire that is unquenchable. This is fueled by my inner child recovering from trauma and speaking for the voiceless. She is the flame that drives me to create, explore, and do the unexpected. She is a goddess empowering my every step throughout the process of discovering myself as an artist. “
Krystal is self taught and looks for unique opportunities to display society’s undervalued as beautiful with materials like joint compound, dried out felt tip markers, and water damaged paper to name a few. Currently residing in North Texas with husband David, teenager, and 3 feisty dogs. Their studio is open by appointment only.

The necessary masks create a distance between human social interactions. Likewise, masking self identity has historically created distance in my own life. Peace comes when we can connect; and victory is all of us being protected with vaccine so the masks can come off. This work expresses all that is in the dark ready to shine brightly.
